The Rainbow Coalition was introduced by Fred Hampton of The Black Panther Party to unite other radical organizations together in the 1960s and 1970s. Jesse Jackson soon after took the idea to create a coalition of people that represent all races, creeds, nationalities, and sexual orientations. The goals of the campaign were to demand social programs, voting rights, and affirmative action for all groups that had been neglected by Reganomics.
